WOJCIECH WAGLEWSKI, BLUESROADS FESTIVAL PATRON
"I agreed to become the festival's patron, for I was enchanted by its atmosphere. I had never seen so many young students that much
interested in what goes on onstage. I was astonished to see the crowds suddenly gather only to listen. That's the first reason.
Secondly, I like the idea of the festival. I like listening either to authentic Black artists playing the music or to the young people who create their own rendition of it, who remember to swing and improvise, but a rendition which is at the same time processed by intelligent minds. About this Cracovian idea I liked the fact that the blues are not presented as completely orthodox. The music is more ideologically connected to the genre, rather than formally."
THE WORLD'S ONLY STUDENT BLUES FESTIVAL
"I have never heard of a blues festival born out of students' initiative before. Each year I travel to a great number of places and this is the first time I have a chance to participate in an event like this one. It's a breath of new life for the world blues."
Guy Davis, headliner of Bluesroads Festival 2011
